Doctor who series 2 Review

While series 1 had one hell of a slow start it was all in all a great start to the series obviously enough to get a second series and pull the entire franchise out of the grave.Christopher eccleston said in a recent (possibly recent-ish) interview that he was proud of the season he did but more or less he was just happy to have pulled the series out of the water and adamantly says he is done with the series and doesn't regret leaving after just the first series.Personally I do have to admire his persistance on the matter.

but taking his place was what many people consider to be the best doctor in the series some say even over tom baker,David tennant.This was not only the first series for david but on a personal note the first episodes I saw were from this series and again mostly due to billie piper being familiar to me from my childhood I decided to stick with the series and again here we are.But again before I repeat myself for the 10,000th time let's get into how the cast has changed since the previous series

The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant)

While the 9th doctor felt like a fallen angel being the cause of the destruction of both the dalek and time lord races his redemption at the end of the previous series caused this doctor to feel like he was free from the guilt at least in other people's eyes.I think the best way to describe him actually is his theme.While often people just call it the 10th's theme I think the proper name is the lonely angel and it just says it all but when it comes down to it his personality and charisma and his spectacular acting makes it easily understandable as to why people think he's the best doctor though again I do prefer matt smith but I'll get to that later.He's alot more light hearted and peaceful then the ninth and I have to say it works for the character arc for the doctor in the revived.

Rose tyler (Billie piper)

once again she takes a good position as the viewers place in the show reacting as we would at least until her character takes over fully as the doctor's girlfriend.In the beginning just like near the end of the last series she seemed a bit...how do I say this.....obsessed with the doctor.I mean it's not really anything she does in particular and in fact I believe we're meant to side with her on these but at first it does come off a bit....well off.But once the adventures continue on she seems alot more like how they meant it to seem.she seems more in love.

Though after a while I do have to say a different change started in her.She still acted like her still the average girl but she began mutating into a version of the doctor almost.She seemed alot smarter and even a bit more eccentric namely two moments a smirk she gave the jackass father in the idiot's lantern that was brilliant on billie piper's part and the running joke of trying to get the queen to say she isn't amused that just come off very doctor-esque moreso the smirk though.

and yes she's still hot

Mickey smith(noel clarke)

It's ironic that one of mickey's traits half way through was that he thought he wasn't good enough and that he was just a third wheel or as he said it "The tin dog" since in my opinion his character arc is one of the best in the revived.In the first series (And by the way if you haven't noticed I keep switching between series and season. I swear I will pick one and stick with it one of these days ) He basically had no choice but to help rose get back to the doctor pretty much admitting that he lost his girlfriend to the doctor.oddly at first this season there is a bit of sexual tension between the two and had I not known how it ended ahead of time I think I would've thought that's how she was going to leave the doctor at the end of the series


but from that to seeing an alternate version of himself die he became a much stronger person only to have a damn cool comeback at the end of the series and I have to say it made him a damn cool character.I won't spoil it but watch the series and see what you think or if you already have leave a comment on it I'm curious since I'v not seen many people mention mickey.

Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth sladen)

It would be callous of me not to start off by mentioning the obvious elephant in the room.April this year elisabeth sladen passed away and It did make the episodes of her come back to doctor who a bit hard to watch If only because of how talented and realy how nice she was in the behind the scenes extras I've seen.But that aside with the fact I'm really bad with these kinds of things her performance is excellent and it really does feel like she just came back to the role after a few days not a number of years.And I have to say this now her interaction with billie piper is amazing I don't know if the two did anything else together but it would've been a damn blast to watch cause these two are awesome

Seriously if you take anything away from this series it's that companions talking to each other is often hilarious and I really hope they do something like that for series 7.But all I can say really is that sarah jane came back for one hell of a performance and I'm glad she did. While I've never seen her spinoff myself I have to assume with this start it had to have been good at least.


There is really only one villain I could pick for the series spotlight this time....well okay maybe the Cult of Skaro but they're awesome and I did the daleks last time so there really is just the one.

The Cybermen

again I came in late series 2 so I can't say for myself how It felt seeing this version as the new cybermen but I love this design.I mean they look badass.The design and voice and may I also say their theme is just incredible and leads to one of the more awesome moments in the army of ghosts.Similar to the slitheen the cybermen appear twice this series in both the age of steel two parter and the doomsday two parter and I have to say some people may say it's just lazy or oversaturating a certain villain but I personally think it makes sense.I meanVillains can just take a short break then start swinging again a few days later.I've already said a bucnh in my villain countdown but the robotic menace of the cybermen is put simply awesome.


As you can tell between the fact that this series starts off stronger then the first and the fact that this is the first series I saw if only the last few episodes I have a small if important attachment to this season. But really is this series one of the better ones or is being better then series 1 just a squeek out a win.Well while the first series got off to a slow start this one got off to a slightly better start...slightly


Episode 1: The Christmas Invasion

Much like how series one took a little while to get going as did the now traditional christmas specials. this episode is kind of weak for one reason.The doctor is bearly in it and it's the same reason peter davison got off to a weak start as the 5th doctor.The regeneration to the 10th went a little bad and required some time to rest and it results in a very small amount of the new doctor which is a bit of a tease really.The episode did resolve the story of the new prime minister put in place after the slitheen,Ms. Harriet Jones.

Her use of a new group called torchwood to destroy the alien menace when they were already running away caused the doctor to cause her eviction from office using I think less then 8 words.Not a bad episode but hampered by the lack of the doctor though he was good when he was up.Also one last thing when the doctor fought the sicorax (Who by the way are not bad but I've seen better.) he had his hand cut off and then showing within so long of first regenerating limbs can grow back and a timelord is essentially even harder to kill but I do wonder what happened to that hand?.....or for that matter jack from series 1?......oh well next ep.

Episode 2 New earth

and for the second villain we have!......a bitchy trampoline returns....why cassandra? Maybe it was because it had the doctor showing no remorse to the point of almost seeming guilty of her death.It does show a nice paralell to the ninth with except with the 10th giving her a peaceful death in the way she wanted after a turn into being a good guy.that being said there's alot of paralells to "The end of the world" including the second appearance of the face of boe making this a really spooky clone episode it's not bad but not great all in all. also one thing I noticed.the cat nuns( long story) said they grew fake humans and while they referred to them as flesh I'm not sure if it's the same flesh from series 6 but I kinda like to think it is just for the connection.

Episode 3 Tooth and claw

As you may have figured three episodes in the running plot point to be solved at the end is the torchwood plot this episode showing how it was formed. I think one of my favorite things about this episode is that it's the doctor vs a werewolf.I mean that is kinda awesome and the doctor knows this well he goes insanely quickly into "You are beautiful" mode though quickly gets out of it realizing he was in massive danger. this is also ths first episode this season I really enjoy. it's just a fun yet tense mini horror and suspense episode it's a damn good watch with the only problem being I really think it should have been a two parter since it feels waaaaay to short but all in all the ancient scottish moon lazer makes up for it.........Fuck yeah

Episode 4 School reunion

EVIL GILES!!! Now that I got that out of the way while I think the villains are a little off it's not really about them but it is about the return of sarah jane and it goes quite well and the interaction between sarah and rose is awesome. Not really much happens and in the long run kind of forgettable but oh man it's so worth it for the conversations between sarah and rose

Episode 5 The girl in the fireplace

This is a good one all round.First off the opening is damn intriguing with a woman talking about the doctor and just the circumstances,the humor, and may I add a spooky paralell between Rinette the main female lead in the episode and amy pond from 3 seasons later makes this one a real keeper and just something to watch if you have nothing better to do.This one is one of my favorites this season especially since the ending in particular is absolutly heartbreaking and I won't spoil it but again he was late for amy by 12 years and while less time passed well......

Episode 6 and 7 :The rise of the cybermen and Age of steel

First off since the try to leave the appearance of the cybermen as a surprise they could have left the identity of the villain as a surprise and named the first episode Age of steel.coulda been nice but then again there'll be a twist later with them that will more then make up for it.The alternate dimension idea is a good plot but I do have to admit I was fine with the father's day closure to the rose's father story  I think it could've worked really well without that and more of a focus on mickey's grandmother instead and it really ends this season in kind of an okay note so that bugs since it could've gone better.

Past that a pretty good two parter especially part 2 with a rather heartbreaking moment involving a cyberman getting her emotions back.That plus a great Villain in lumic and the single biggest "What the fuck" moment in the series but I'll leave that a surprise

Episode 8 The idiot's lantern

Before Re-watching this  I always connected this episode to "the girl in the fireplace" for some reason.Now though my opinions are a wee bit different.I still really like the episode I mean when the doctor finds out rose's face is gone his reaction shows how far their relation has come him being as pissed as he was and I'll even say the mood and humor was good but all in all it just feels odd.I can't quite put my finger on why but it just comes off weird for some reason though like I said not bad

Episode 9 and 10 The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit

Oh boy this is a very peculiar two parter.I love the mood and the idea's behind it but the religious implications are a bit odd.I mean I love the discussions and whatnot in the two episodes and david's speech to the devil or whatever that was is in my opinion his best moment as the doctor (seriously it's goddamn shakespearean I love it) and those parts are amazing and it is done well but again alot of kids watch this and I love deep storylines for kids but this is saying that the devil is the same creature in every religion and is just an incredibly powerful alien is a bit iffy.Great two parter just try not to take it too seriously and it's amazing

Episode 11 Love and monsters

This is the first episode I ever saw and to be honest I'm shocked this one didn't scare me off near the end. This is actually a fantastic episode with how they follow a video diary of the main character elton and may I add I love his taste in music (ELO Indeed sir) in fact with the inclusion of the doctor hunting club this is a damn close shave for the best episode.......and then there's the absorbaloff........oh god......I don't care if he was done well,I don't care if he did relativly carefully do everything stealthfully,I don't care if he did read a magazine with a harold saxon reference in it I HATE THIS GUY. Seriously I really don't like him he just rubs me the wrong way and it does not shock me that he's a mutated relative of the slitheen......Rant over Great episode terrible villain

Episode 12 Fear her

This one is very meh.I like the style and set up but I really don't have too much to say.It's good I guess.Sad though that the only thing I think of with this episode is well the blooper of trying to get the cat to go in the box........yeah on to the good stuff

Episode 13 and 14 Army of ghosts and doomsday

The first thing I wanna say is yes that is freema agyemen as the woman who gets cyber-tized in the beginning.....Funny,anyway I LOVE THIS TWO PARTER!!! I'm not sure if it's the idea of ghosts,the excellent conclusion to the torchwood story (well until the spinoff) the doctor as usual being the pessimist with the ghosts, or just the continuation of the cybermen arc this season that makes this two parter great......oh wait I do know At the end of the first episode the cybermen theme stops and a second theme starts playing when referring to the sphere in the lab.When the Daleks come screaming out it starts making sense why that track was The daleks theme from series 1.

 My god the interaction between the cybermen and the cult of skaro is just amazing.The writing is hilariously epic with the lines from the daleks being priceless especially "This is not war! This is pest control!!" from Dalek sec and the lines from the doctor as well are great. but past that the best thing is just seeing the daleks and cybermen fighting it's a sight for any fan of the series to see.But there is another reason why I like this The farewell between rose and the doctor.While this didn't get to me personally it is a real threat to dry eyes.Like I said easily my favorie episodes in doctor who.

That ladies in gentlemen is probably my third favorite series but as for number two? well there's a tie and the next series just happens to be one of the two and there's a good reason why it has my favorite moment in doctor who history when the drums erupt from the sky.....till then

WHAT.THE.FUCK.

What in gods name was nintendo on when they decided combining pokemon and samurai warriors was a good idea.The idea is good just why japanese history? This is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen and I've sat through people being converted into cybermen with "In the jungle" playing in the background.....by the way I'll have the series 2 review up this week.



Day 30 a day late.Favorite game or the sonic generations review

Yeah sorry for the delay life happened anyway a few people may be scratching their heads and saying something like. "Well it's a great game but best really?" Lemme tell you something I love the hell out of this game but I may as well just turn this into a review while I'm here.

When this game was announced early this year everyone was pumped as hell because after sonic colors success people knew sega was in a good position for this but people were still nervous after sonic 4 which is a good game but was a bit underwhelming all in all.but sonic fans have been pumped as hell all years for this and my god am I pleased to say this game more then lives up to the hype.Just everything is perfect to me and fun as hell.But lemme take a more organized approach to this.

Gameplay

This game is a goddamn hoot to play.the classic sections while not perfect in comparison to the original genesis trilogy is still a damn blast to play but in a bit of shock I'm actually far more intrigued by the modern sections which are amazing to shoot through.I was a fan of the modern games but to me the classics were best but this is just insane.I mean both modes are great and fun as hell but I did find the modern a little more fun to play.

Soundtrack

I know I said this before but goddamn It bears repeating.This games soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard.Most of it is on my mp3 player as we speak.But in particular the remixes are nuts.the original versions or the slightly modified versions of the originals I should say are great but compare the original chemical plant music to the modern version and my god  I didn't even think they could make that track sound cooler. but it does not stop there.The same works in reverse almost all of the classic remixes for the dreamcast and modern tracks are just as good if not better though the fact that the city escape track is just as good both ways should say alot

Graphics

I really should have put this for best graphics above dead island but it's damn hard to argue with how good dead island looks.But on the other hand while not realitic the backgrounds in sonic generations is just insane.I mean modern chem plant,and modern and classic rooftop run have some of the best visuals I've ever seen.It's just incredible

Downsides

Well I will say that I do wish there were more bosses.The wrecking ball boss from 1,or metal overlord from heroes.And may I add except for 1 song on the soundtrack shadow's game is left in the dust and may I add there are two tracks that are not in the selectable track I wish were.namely all hail shadow and E.G.G.M.A.N they're in the game and play in specific moments But I really do wish they were normally selectable since it would make a few fights kind of interesting namely the egg dragoon  to E.G.G.M.A.N would be cool even if it was just that fight let alone selectable

All in all the story is a bit off as well but it's a nitpcik compared to everything else. so yeah this game is just amazing and there's alot I didn't even mention so please for gods sake check this game out and see if you like it.

I've never had any real emotions about westerns.Just never got into them but when the undead nightmare dlc was announced I got interested in the game and goddamn am I happy I did this game is insane.Great story,great characters,and one hell of a score musically speaking. I higly reccomend it

There is a scene near the end of this game with the two brothers dante and vergil that is just incredible.I won't spoil it but look up devil may cry 3 jackpot and you'll know what I mean this leads really nicely into.....

Personally I just like the most franchises from capcom I mean these guys sega and konami are all great so take your pick but I just love megaman,Devil may cry,resident evil and not as well known but dino crisis are all great

This game is insane.I mean I played this game every day when I was a kid.It was just so damn fun.To give you an idea I actually yelped with joy(I say yelped since The term squee makes me uncomfortable.....cause I find it silly) when chemical plant was announced for sonic generations.

This is the first rpg I ever played And It's also one of the first games where the twist really did work to me.

I know near the beginning of the game it was repeatedly said with an eerie demon or two saying give your energy to god but I did not call st eva being the final boss of the game nor did I expect it to look like this....

JESUS! Seriously this is the coolest boss design ever look at this thing.But yeah you see my point

Day 22 A sequel that disappointed me

Oi this was a bad one.I never owned or even played the first one but I did see someone else play it a friend of mine,and It looked kick ass.And hey I love zombie games what did not look awesome.I got this a few years back right after it came out and it was awesome.....for about 5 minutes.The plot is okay but the gameplay is disgustingly repetitive and the time limit turned the game into a clusterfuck.Seriously you're given like twenty things to do and not enough time to do it.And the fact that you have to find medicine for your daughter makes it worse.Cause you want to find it for her but time is tense and either you can't and feel like ass or do and miss out on missions.

And I never even beat the game cause the final boss is insane.Some guy with a gun......yeah that gun makes it so that you can't get close and oh yeah he has waaaaaaaaaay too much health.this game.......(Clears throat) SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKSSSSSS!!!!

Couldn't think of a picture.Anyway yeah actions rpg are my favorite because it really has the deepness of a good rpg without the more motonous gameplay of something turn based( Good ones I mean) and I'm not saying I don't like turn based rpg's (tune in tomorrow for a little evidence) I just prefer a little action in the gameplay to make it interesting.

alot of this is because of the plot and how things go.just watching the characters go through the crimes and slowly figure everything out is just fun to watch even if in some places it's a bit far fetched or off kilter.It's just a damn nice game to watch which is why I'm insanely glad about the anime

For those who've read my villains list you know miss ashford is my favorite but this is a good opportunity to mention someone else I like.Reala was an important character when I was growing up because I actually owned a nights comic with reala in it and he was just sinister.I love the style and yet how creepy he is.Plus I just love the jester thing it's just cool

Day 18 favorite protagonist

Soma cruz

I've already said the doctor is my favorite hero but in games it's soma cruz.Soma is the reincarnation of dracula the main villain of the castlevania series making soma pretty interesting to watch.Soma is only in the castle of dracula of the castle's own volition he just wants out so him and his friends.....and yes soma is a guy believe it or not......out of the castle it's simple but very likable I enjoy the hell out of this guy

ah sonic generations we meet again.This game hasn't even been out for two weeks and it's already left a huge impact on me.I mean I have 90% of the soundtrack on my mp3 player and my god is the gameplay glorious.This game is just plain fun compressed into a disc.Incredible graphics and everything is just about unreal but I'm rambling and my god the gameplay is the best part and these days that's actually a rare thing these days so much based around story or graphics but this is just amazing.

Day 9 Saddest scene in a game

The fate of nanako dojima

Oh man.I'm not an emotional guy but holy shit this scene was just hard to watch.I won't say exactly what or how it happens but your neice in persona 4 who you've been with for a number of hours in this long as hell game gets put in a hospital and what happens next is just heartbreaking.I was a mess and that's all I'll say especially with the persona 4 anime coming out which I recommend for the concept alone.

this......Is quite possibly the funniest couple ever.Fun story kanji who at the time was doubting his own sexuality meets up with naoto pretending to be a boy (both are kind of long stories but at this point I may end up doing a p4 review so I'll get to it.) he immediatly gets a crush on her but between his doubts and her gender switching it just makes things amusing to watch whenever they're in a room together.and oh yes kanji does realize he's straight and naoto does start saying she's a girl and that's why this is funny.think about it.

Ah the good ol' mad scientist the main reason I picked him is because I love timesplitters 3 and this guy is just the most hilarious type of mad scientist almost doctor insano-esque in his ways and I love it.Seriously this guy is so awesome and I always really liked the mad scientist schtick I kinda have to wanna be this guy just for how insane and actually how clever he is......while still being kind of an idiot.

Right off the bat I wanna say It's been a few years since I've actually played this but from the best of my memory this game was not that bad.I mean the story was pretty much set in stone for the character not great but not terrible.The graphics were okay to my recollection at least compared to previous games and the fact that alot of people say it's worse then sonic 06 is just plain off.I don't need to play 06 to know how bad it is just watch anything on youtube pertaining to it and you'll see how bad 06 is and in all honesty I just recall having alot of fun with this game.not sonic 2 fun,not sonic unleashed fun but fun nonetheless

Megaman zero 2 (Series in general though)

When most people think megaman they think either the classic series or the x series.I think the zero series because my god does this series kick ass.I can't really pick one out of the bunch but I guess zero 2 is the one I like the most Mostly cause of nostalgia though.Plus it has one of my top villains in dr weil so I give the game full marks.Because of the difficulty to find the games these days and since they're gba,anyone curious to see what it's like I recommend clementj642's let's plays of the entire series up on youtube.It's good stuff though I do disagree with him that alot of the names are silly though alot are........ALOT are though some were pretty cool....I'm rambling now.

Ladies and gentlemen,I give you the most awesome character I've ever seen.I won't spoil his character's plot for those wanting to watch a playthrough or play it themselves but i will say this.Sewing teddy bears by day beating the hell out of biker gangs by night.....have I got your attention yet?

Day 1: Very first video game

Now I'll admit that I'm a much bigger sonic fan then mario and my god AM I pumped for sonic generations which I will be getting damn soon,This game is a goddamn classic.I remember playing this sucker for the first time as a kid and man I sucked bad.I only recently in the last few years beat it but you know what this will always be my favorite mario game.

Alright maybe I should explain myself here.When It comes to the silent hill franchise you have to be careful cause while alot of fans can be understanding alot of them feel that mentioning silent hill origins,homecoming or the live action movie in particular in the same breath as the silent hill hill original games (The first three in particular) Is Like some kind of blasphemy.Now I won't say You shouldn't be that defensive since I'm sure one day I'll get into a mass argument over doctor who vs start trek vs star wars so I won't set myself up but at the same time I have this much to say

My thoughts on Freddy Krueger

With halloween 8 days away at the time of this posting and the freddy vs jason movie playing on the tv next to me I figured now would be a good time to bring up something I've started holding close to my heart.Mr frederick krueger.

Ah Freddy One of the most legendary horror icons of all time along with mike myers and jason voorhees.Goddammit this guy for what's said of what he did It's hard not to like this guy.I mean look at his past.He murdered children and possibly alot worse though definatly according to the remake.(I'll get to that) But somehow just how scary and unsettling he can be in the earlier movies and how funny he can be sometimes.personally I think freddy's dead was going way the fuck overboard on the cheesy(Seriously power glove jokes oi vei) Though some of the lines in freddy vs jason or the more twisted sense of humor in dream warriors wasn't bad though there is a huge split with fans on how much humor should be in a movie most people saying dream warriors was perfect for it but I'm getting off track sort of.

We all know the story: Freddy (Aka the springwood slasher) Kills children and the parents fearing their fate would be thrust upon more people get together and burn him alive but not before he swears revenge. years later people start dying in their sleep as a result of freddy killing them in their nightmares.This is just a damn unbleiavable concept first off when most horror movies were just big guy in mask kills people.Not only was his face visible But he was known for it.The look was just perfect.The hat,The sweater,The face everything was just perfect.But the concept of someone having power over dreams,something no one can do anything about except delay with coffee is pretty Incredible.My credit to wes craven.

But let's face it The real genius is robert england.The man behind the make up.The guy can just wear it insanely well and not to mention he just seems like a real lunatic but still in that cheesy but awesome way so I'm guessing You prolly wanna know how I feel about Jackie Earle Haley.Well The movie itself was okay not amazing but at least it wasn't goof fodder like freddy's dead.But I actually liked haley.He did a good job I mean That laugh was goddamn creepy and really the make up was fine I still don't see the comparison to the navi from avatar.....I think that's what they're called(freaking hate that movie) Anyway I just wanted a little rant time have a happy halloween and for gods sake watch some form of a nightmare movie they're awesome......same with friday the 13th actually.



The Doctor who series one review.

In the year 1963 a group of people including canadian sydney newman (go canada) created one of the greatest series of all time in creating doctor who but in 1989 the series low ratings put the series on hold but the series memory stayed in peoples minds long enough for 16 years later the Series of doctor who I have a habit of calling the revived era Started up piloted by Russel T Davies and it started with the story of a girl named Rose.Rose lived a normal life and lived it happily until the alien and bizzarre caught up with her.Trapped in her workplace with living plastic mannequins known as autons coming after her she was saved by a mysterious man known only as the doctor,A man whose history is coated in death and destruction to the few who believe in his existance but to few is one of the greates heroes of all time.But before I get into the actual tales of these two allow me to do introductions.

The 9th Doctor (Christopher eccleston)

Before rewatching Series 1 again I really didn't have much to say about the 9th but I do have to say he got my interest alot more times then I was expecting. Eccleston's portrayel is definatly respectable and while most people don't think of him due to his short run he managed to impress me quite a few times.Compared to the previous doctors his look is immensly different from the more elegant looks of the past doctors though I always thought face wise he looked alot like paul mcgann though that may just be me.At the beginning he seems very down on humans almost to the point of racism but he always showed the best interest of human kind at heart.

It's revealed that during the time war as the 8th doctor he caused the destruction of the entire time lord race and what he thought to be the entire dalek race causing his regeneration into the 9th.As such his attitude is alot darker and more aggressive and it easily shows him having alot less mercy having no problem using methods that could kill enemies where as past or future doctors would at least go alot further to prevent it.However he is still incredibly merciful still being the doctor showing alot of compassion to rose.Though in long game he showed that if you cross him you end up revealing your brain to your mother.....I'll get to that later.

A few small thing as well namely that he has alot of similarities to the 11th doctor matt smith.Things like half way through a series doing things that make people question his peaceful nature for 9 the episode dalek for 11 the episode a good man goes to war.also and this is a nitpick so take it with a grain of salt but The way he says his catchphrase "Fantastic" drives me nuts here and there though often It's okay.All and all the 9th just got a bad hand being in one season and before david tennants run but I do really like the guy.And also I won't go into his reasons for leaving but I like to think it's that he felt he didn't want to be typecasted though I will say something about his career after and I may need matt smith's help with this again

Rose Tyler (Billie piper)

Ah Billie piper.Fun story when I was younger Ms. piper was a rather popular pop star in britain and me being a complete like 7 year old kid because i was one was a huge fan of her and while I hadn't heard about her in years I recognized her face in the episode love and monsters and it cought my eye to the point where I decided to start watching before I even really knew what It was.A week later I was a massive doctor who fan so as of right now russel davies and steve moffat each owe her some money.

Anyways as a companion she does her job exceptionally well being shown as a normal girl from the very start. Her amazement brought people easily back into the series after the break.She always had a massive sense of what's right and if anyone disagreed with her she'd let them know but she was usually pretty average but that was a smart idea.keep her as a high morality smartass then in the second series......well I'll get to that.

But nonetheless two other things namely Her musical theme's are excellent and......she's really attractive.Seriously look at the above picture and tell me she's not hot.I'm rambling though She's a great character all in all.

Mickey smith (Noel Clarke)

Ah Mickey,mickedy mick,mick,Mickey the idiot This guy is an interesting sort.He's at first just played off as the average guy shoved into an odd world and not liking it a bit.He's mostly just comic relief but after a while he sort of turns into the anti doctor trying to get Rose to come back to him and in all honesty Alot of the time you really feel bad for this guy.It just feels like he's lost the most out of all of this. Hell his acting is pretty damn good in those sections not like his acting was bad to start but it does say alot about noel. All in all I like mickey but I'm glad he's kept as a minor sidekick.

Jackie Tyler (Camille Coduri)

Jackie does feel alot of the time like she's just along for the ride except for some times when she's part of the plot.She has good comic relief moments a bit better then mickey but she isn't quite as good as mickey in terms of serious stuff.maybe that's me though but She's not bad really so She's fine in my books.

Jack harkness (John barrowman)

Ladies and gentlemen The only living omnisexual being. For those who don't know jack is basically bisexual but I have seen him hit on a blue grasshopper woman before which was an interesting thing to see.behind the scenes It's more to show the openly gay john barrowman as a strong gay role model and all the power to him for that.In all honesty though I love jack.he's just a hoot to watch especially after his torchwood days in series 3 but here he's more just a little scamp but he's enjoyable

Now every season I'll highlight a villain from the series that I think deserves credit and really in this series there is only one I can talk about

The Dalek Emperor

Upon re watching the series I noticed this character in particular was just incredibly menacing.The sheer size and tone of his voice was eerie but his claims of being a god,his claims of being immortal are just sinister in how arrogant he is but you really do feel like it's possible.He's just Insane taunting the doctor the whole time saying to either let him destroy the universe or turn the doctor into the destroyer of the entire human race,Forcing him to repeat his actions of the time war just replacing the time lords with humans.It's truly something to watch and again the daleks are just psychotic so he has to be mentioned.

It may not be a huge surprise but this is my least favorite series of the show.It's good it just starts off so Insanely slow that it kills a bit of interest.The first episode is fine but 2 and 3 just seem to drag.They aren't terrible just kind of slow and really I think a two parter a bit sooner would've done the series good but then we did get a two parter and while it is pretty good the villains.....the slitheen are a bunch of farting team rocket-esque idiots and really they just seem like they got lucky.

Episode 1: Rose

This is a pretty good start I have to say.Not The eleventh hour good but I'd say second best easy.....maybe thrid I'm still not sure How I stand on the impossible astronaut but I'm getting off track.The episode does a damn good job creating a mystery around the doctor and for new viewers It's actually kind of fascinating thinking about how new people would think of what the doctor is and plus it adds more of a connection to rose as we find out with her.For older viewers it's not as strong but It's a damn good start.Also the autons did their job well I personally think it's the best choice but I can't put my finger on what bugs me about the choice just chalk it up to me being odd.

Episode 2: The End of the world

And here is where the brakes got applied.I know why this episode exists it acts as a kind of test to see how much wackiness people can take and it does that well but it just seems like that's all it does.One of the things that does pop up is how the doctor wants to deal with cassandra.While she dying he basically says just leave her to die which rose does disagree with intensly and it makes me recall The beast below again another paralell to series 5.Though granted again we do discover it with rose again so it does make rose very easy to identify with but after the first watch the little backstory with the doctor and the villain being as rose called her a "bitchy trampoline" (nice one by the way rose) It just doesn't have much reviewability.The good thing is We won't see cassandra again since she exploded so we neeeeeeeeeeever have to see her again (I say knowingly)

Episode 3:The unquiet dead

Again we have a case of just slow but this time It's not so much because of the episode.I find it hard to disconnect the episode from what's going on in continuity.The episode itself is great and in all honesty the villain is great too (The gelth) and the story is good it just feels to me like it's just not doing anything.I know that's the point of alot of episodes of doctor who to move away from the seasonal plot but a bit more action this early again I think would've done some good.Good but not amazing long story short.

Episode 4 and 5: Aliens of london and World war three

Here we go.I admit while I really can't stand the villains of this episode I do admit all in all this is a good two parter.It adds a well needed return to rose's time with her mom and mickey giving both some time to explain just how peeved they are at her running off with someone she bearly knew Adding alot of logic to the whole situation with rose.plus the two parter is fairly well put together.If it wasn't for how much I really dislike the slitheen It may be my favorite two parter this season but because of the often disgusting slitheen I just can't go all out and I can't even make the neeeeeeeever again see them joke since at the end of the series guess who's a main villain again.But I'll get to that.

This is about the point where the series seems to get back on it's feet.the slitheen two parter got things going full blast and the next few episodes from returning enemies to a certain actor to one of the most depressing episodes I've ever seen would easily continue the streak.

Episode 6 Dalek

And 6 episodes in in one of my favorite villain reveals in the series history The last remaining dalek in existance (We know of) breaks from it's chains and only the doctor can.......Well sort of.the dalek kidnaps rose but all of this ends up with rose actually talking the dalek into being peaceful and when the doctor confronts it with possibly the biggest gun I've ever seen rose defends it.I won't reveal the ending but it's something to really think about. This is a fascinating episode showing how things changed so drastically since the time war and It's a real thinker.It's my favorite episode this series and I highly reccomend it.

Episode 7: Long game

SIMON PEGG!!!! Sorry I had to get that out of the way but by a long way above even matt smith and david tennant simon pegg is my favorite actor.Seriously watch shaun of the dead and try not to laugh I dare you.But I digress.I nice break from the seriousness of the last episode though they did take along adam A man from the last episode who literally tried to get information from the future to make himself rich in his own time.Suffice it to say he ends up getting his commupance which I won't spoil due to how awesome it is.but yeah cool episode something about the face of boe from episode 2 getting pregnant which in hindsight Is hilarious and a giant ceiling monster.......SIMON PEGG!!!!!

Episode 8: Father's day

This is one heluva sad episode.I mean It's great but my god this is just depressing.It''s great in terms of character development for rose and her family.Namely her father showing both how he died as well as what happens when someone tries to change the past.but here's my problems When she saves her father at the beginning and unleashes the reapers (Think time police but part gargoyle) They are known as being unimaginably powerful and able to break time walls to fix errors in time like someone who should be dead.And spoilers here but they do beat them and they never show again despite the fact that I'm sure history has been affected in some way like the doctor appearing in old comedy sketches or marrying marilyn monroe or......man #11 had alot of fun.....where was I? Oh yeah.They didn't die cause they're too powerful fo rthat kind of thing as I know and they couldn't have gotten locked out since that seems to be their purpose and yet they are nowhere.Maybe I'm just overthinking or over estimating don't mind me.

And as for how things went from here well great news and surprisingly great news then just weird.

Episode 9 and 10 The Empty child and The doctor dances

Now this is brilliant.this two parter is the funniest the saddest and the scariest part of the first series and I highly reccomend it.Combined I like it more then dalek but for one episode dalek does still win. the relationship with the kid.The doctor's lines,Captain jack everything is just amazing.I love this and I really don't know what else to say but for gods sake watch this one if it's the only thing you get out of this review.Fun fact the friend I keep bringing up I shall now refer to as Lady K (No relation) openly cried at the end end of this.I can't blame her but just a fun little tidbit

Episode 11 Boom town

Goddammit more slitheen! Well actually surprisingly this is a damn good episode even the slitheen in the episode becomes a deep character and actually quite likable all things considered.It's a good sign that the writers really got going around this point.It's actually a really good story and I won't say what but near the end they fully set up a few things for the two part finale.

Episode 12 Bad wolf

Two running themes of this series have been massive pop culture references and the term bad wolf popping up everywhere.This is where they both come to a climax and my god do they collide with an audible thud.namely the anne droid

THE ANNE......DROID

This is by far the worst episode I've seen of the show but in all honesty It ends well and it's pretty damn funny just so flippin' stupid in some parts and for the lead up to the finale as well but trust me It does lead up to my third favorite climax in doctor who history.

Episode 13 The parting of the ways

This is The best dalek episode ever.I know that's one hell of a claim but it's the daleks at their best.The religious claims of the emperor make this insanely threatening and how it all goes is just intense.I love this episode.Again I'm not really sure what else to say except.I won't spoil it but the bad wolf phenomenon is well explained and I have to say what it is makes for a rather cool moment in a later season.All in all a damn good end......also of course the first lines spoken by the next doctor david tennant

This series was excellent once it got going but it almost felt more satisfying once it did get good almost like it deserved it from trying.All in all if reigniting interest in the series was the idea then I'd say mission accomplished.But this is only the beginning for the 10th doctor would only have far worse to deal with then just daleks and next season a new enemy joins in one of the greatest battles of science fiction.The battle of canary warf;Doomsday
